Advanced Managerial Test (AMT)

昨天我去考了一個很有趣的試. 故事要從昨天下午說起…

話說昨天 University of Michigan 的 College of Engineering 有一個 Internship/Co-op Fair. 雖然我要找的是 Full-time position, 但有蠻多公司來的, 而且有些也有在找 Full-time 的人, 所以我就抽空去壓一下馬路. 一到那好像菜市場一樣, 人山人海. 要跟每一家公司的 recruiter 講話都要排上超長的隊伍 (15分鐘跑不掉). 而我, 因為懶得排很久, 就跑去找隊伍比較短的公司. 剛好晃到 Capital One 前面, 而且看到沒人在排隊, 所以就跟他們談了一下. 他們要找 Full-time 的 Business Analyst 跟 Data Analyst. 不過他們的 recruiting process 要求你考一個數學的考試, 之後才會看要不要 interview 你. 那我也不好意思拒絕, 所以就 sign-up 當晚的一個 session.

我只是覺得很久沒考這種需要在壓力下算數的試 (自從 2005 年 3 月的 GRE 之後), 所以想說去玩一玩, 考爽的. 一下是這考試的一點簡介 (取自 SHL 網站)

The Advanced Managerial Tests (AMT) are designed to assess verbal and numerical reasoning skills for directors and managers across a range of functions.

Suitable for:

Directors, senior managers.

這個所謂的 AMT 很多不同的測驗, 他給我考的是下面這個.

NMT4 – Numerical Analysis

Measures the ability to interpret and use complex business-related numerical information. This test would be particularly useful in assessing a manager’s ability to identify trends across a wide range of data or combine statistics from different sources to establish new information patterns. The time to complete the test is 35 minutes.

這測驗總共有 30 題, 要在 35 分鐘內寫完. 全部都是看 graphs, tables, charts, etc. 然後算一些商業的東西, 像是 revenue growth, profit margin, market share, 之類有的沒的. 雖然對我這一堂 business 的課都沒拿過的人看起來有點像是火星文, 但始終是數學而已, "應該"不會太難. 結果, 我這遜炮竟然沒寫完 (我是垃圾阿阿阿阿!!!). 只寫了 27 題. 雖然我沒那麼在乎說有沒有接下來的 interview, 但是, 這對我的自尊心是個不小的打擊. 一像引引為傲 (唉, 往事不看回首) 的數學, 竟然變得這麼爛…><
